Two close people and seven years of silence

“Five’ is an intimate but extremely emotional performance. According to the plot, a man and a woman somehow find themselves in the kitchen at dawn. Here they begin a conversation that can no longer be postponed. It seems like a situation familiar to almost everyone. But gradually, seven years of accumulated grievances, misunderstandings, and pain are woven into an ordinary family dialogue. The characters argue, quarrel, try to hear each other – and at the same time defend themselves, hide behind irony and passive aggression. But still, they strive to find at least some compromise.

The play “Five” – is not just a story of a couple. It is a mirror of the modern world, where we more and more often avoid sincere conversations, replacing them with ambiguous messages, sarcasm, and unspoken words. It is a story about relationships, but at the same time – about all of us.

A space of honesty and search for answers

The play was directed by the Kyiv Archetypal Theater. This creative collective has existed since 2023 and creates projects at the intersection of theater and psychology. Their performances explore the deep motives of human behavior, offering viewers real inner dialogues in which it is easy to recognize themselves or acquaintances.

The plot of the play “Five’ unfolds in a minimalist space. There are almost no decorations or exquisite costumes on the stage – only two characters and their dialogue. Or rather – an attempt at this dialogue. The play poses a simple but uncomfortable question: why have we unlearned to talk to each other? And can this be fixed if we start – at least at f’ive in the morning?
