An eternal love story between two worlds
The ballet- fantasy “Mavka” – is a large-scale production created by an international team of artists about a world where fantasy and reality exist side by side. The production consists of two contrasting parts that reveal different sides of the legendary story of Mavka and Lukash. The perfect choreography by Artem Shoshin masterfully conveys the inner experiences of the characters, allowing every movement to become an extension of their feelings. This is not just a retelling of the classic plot but its modern interpretation, where every viewer discovers their own meanings.
“Mavka” in Kyiv: a new reading of Ukrainian classics
One of the greatest advantages of the production is its unique artistic atmosphere. Set designer Arvydas Buinauskas creates a space that resembles a fantastic world between earth and sky. Here shimmering light reflections, fabrics that seem to come alive under the breath of the wind, and symbolic stage images form a fairy-tale universe where nature becomes a full-fledged hero of the story. The exquisite costumes by Nataliya Mishchenko complement this visual concept, combining Ukrainian traditions with contemporary theatrical aesthetics.
The music of Viktoriya Polova gives the performance a special sound. The composer moves away from the literal reproduction of folklore, creating a sophisticated modern score where minimalism, aleatoricism, and the richness of percussion timbres create the atmosphere of living nature.
“Mavka” from the Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after Solomiya Krushelnytska – is more than a ballet based on a classic work. It is a fascinating journey into the world of Ukrainian mythology, where music, light, movement, and scenography merge into a single artistic canvas, leaving sincere emotions and a feeling of inner freedom.

Вже цієї осені Львівський національний академічний театр опери та балету ім. Соломії Крушельницької вирушає у великі гастролі до Києва, репрезентуючи сучасне українське балетне мистецтво.
Балет-феєрія Вікторії Польової «Мавка» - це трагічна історія кохання на межі двох світів, тонка психологічна драма, оповита стихійною красою природи. Фантастична музика, вишукана хореографія та візуальна магія постановки занурять вас у світ, де переплітаються міф і реальність.
Над постановкою працювала міжнародна команда митців: балетмейстер-постановник Артем Шошин (асистентка — Тетяна Куруоглу), лібрето та режисер Василь Вовкун, сценограф Арвідас Буйнаускас (Литва), художниця костюмів Наталія Міщенко.
Це нове сценічне диво, створене за мотивами драми-феєрії «Лісова пісня» легендарної поетеси Лесі Українки, - чудова ідея для театрального вікенду для всієї сімʼї, де магія захопить дітей, а глибина сюжету відгукнеться дорослим.
