release
We invite you to the ballet “Carmen.TV” in the production of the brilliant Radu Poklitaru. This is one of the most famous performances of Kyiv Modern-Ballet, which has been captivating audiences in Ukraine and beyond for almost two decades. Come and enjoy a bold reinterpretation of Prosper Mérimée's classic story with outstanding choreography and masterful acting.
The same unforgettable ballet in two acts
In the production by the talented artistic director of the Academic Theatre "Kyiv Modern-ballet" Radu Poklitaru, the famous story of the passionate Sevillian gypsy is presented from a completely new perspective. While preserving the spirit of Prosper Mérimée's novella and the immortal music of Georges Bizet, he created a performance in which the classic organically intertwines with the contemporary. Every movement, image, and scene becomes an emotional language telling of love, jealousy, freedom, and a fatal choice more powerfully than any words.
A special significance in the production is given to the character of Micaela. She loses her status as José's fiancée and becomes a kind of observer and driving force of the story. Through her perception, a dramatic narrative unfolds, as if broadcast from a television screen. This original directorial idea explains the appearance of the abbreviation TV in the title of the performance and gives the classic plot a new artistic dimension. And this is worth seeing live!
“Carmen.TV” by Radu Poklitaru
This large-scale theatrical tapestry was first shown in 2006 and remains relevant to this day. In the ballet, choreography, performance, and acting are beautiful, spectacular, and modern. And the amusing moments, stylish decorations, and costumes help create a unique stage space where the classic story gains new life.
The ballet “Carmen.TV” performed by Kyiv Modern-Ballet – is an opportunity to see one of the most iconic Ukrainian ballet productions that continues to impress with its boldness, depth, and unique aesthetic.
