“Bolero” and “Rain”: an evening of performances by Radu Poklitaru
On this evening, the audience will be able to see two productions by the founder and chief ballet master of the renowned Kyiv Modern-Ballet, Radu Poklitaru:
- The one-act ballet “Bolero” by Maurice Ravel. In Radu Poklitaru's choreographic interpretation, one of the most famous ballet scores of the 20th century receives a bold and unpredictable stage embodiment, filled with the conflicting spirit of modernity. The story tells of the continuous struggle of people for their own “I”. They try to preserve their uniqueness, defend freedom, and not dissolve in the many-headed and many-armed octopus, which symbolizes the crowd. Poklitaru's choreography transforms Ravel's famous music into a powerful expression of individual freedom and the price of individuality.
- The one-act ballet “Rain”. This is a philosophical choreographic suite to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and the peoples of the world. It tells about people who can be completely different, speak different languages, and belong to different cultures, yet involuntarily find themselves united by one time and space. The production speaks about something stronger than linguistic and cultural differences. Universal human feelings and values are capable of uniting people regardless of their origin or mentality.

«Болеро» Моріса Равеля, створене на початку XX століття, отримує несподіване сценічне втілення у виконанні Kyiv Modern-Ballet Theatre. Сміливість і дух протиріччя пронизують балет, розкриваючи боротьбу особистості за власне «Я» у протистоянні з безликою юрбою.
«Дощ» на музику Йоганна Себастьяна Баха це хореографічна сюїта, у яку вплітаються етнічні мотиви. Саме так втілюється задум Раду Поклітару, у якому різні культури й різні нації об’єднуються навколо спільних людських цінностей.
