“The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry has been inspiring artists for decades. So, the chief choreographer of the Kyiv Modern Ballet Academic Theater, Radu Poklitaru, decided to create a ballet based on this work. The plot centers on a new look at the Little Prince's fascinating journey across different planets, where each encounter reveals a deeper meaning of human relationships and the essence of personality.
The story of the Little Prince tells about the value of simple things, the purity of children's worldview and the feeling of real closeness between people, which are opposed to the fuss and complexity of the “adult world”. Because many people are too busy with material values and everyday affairs, forgetting the simple things that help to form a personality and the importance of childhood. In the ballet “The Little Prince” you will be able to see these meanings from an unusual perspective - it may surprise and touch you, but it will definitely not leave you indifferent!
Contemporary ballet in Kyiv
“The Little Prince, staged by Radu Poklitaru, is a unique contemporary ballet in 2 acts. For the new interpretation of the famous work, a touching musical series based on the first symphonies of W. A. Mozart, which the talented composer wrote at the age of 8, was selected. Excerpts of Ukrainian lullabies performed by Maria Pylypchak will create a special atmosphere.

Академічний театр «Київ Модерн-балет», за фінансової підтримки Українського культурного фонду та Департаменту культури (КМДА), презентує сучасний балет на 2 дії «Маленький принц» на музику перших симфонічних творів 8-ми річного В.А. Моцарта та українських колискових у виконанні М. Пилипчак для дітей та дорослих за мотивами твору Антуана де Сент Екзюпері.
Постановником балету «Маленький принц» є Раду Поклітару головний балетмейстер Академічного театру «Київ Модерн-балет», заслужений діяч мистецтв України.
У центрі вистави – нове прочитання історії про Маленького принца, про його уявлення цінності відносин двох індивідів, де кожна подорож новою планетою – глибинне розуміння сутності особистості. Це розповідь про перевагу простих речей і цінностей над суєтою та складністю «світу дорослих», про важливість дитинства, як головного періоду людського життя. Постановка театру «Київ Модерн-балет» нагадає дорослим, що за буденними справами, за нагромадженням матеріальних цінностей, вони забувають про духовні витоки, які відіграють важливу роль у процесі становлення особистості.
Вистава має чимало несподіванок: від музики (у виставі використано музику 8-річного В.А. Моцарта у поєднанні з українськими колисковими), до хореографічних вирішень, неповторних костюмів (автор костюмів Дмитро Курята), а також сучасних технологій 3D-проєкції (авторка Ольга Нікітіна) та світла (Олена Антохіна).
